Walking the streets of Versailles, France :-)

My recent job stay in Les Mureaux, France (JN08WX,dept 78) in August,
let me drive around, visit few beautifull French villages in my spare time, and do some relaxing walkaround.

Walking the streets of Versailles on lazy Thursday and looking for ham antennas, (not many visible there)
and good boulangerie found something interesting. . .  :-)

Accidental "ham-like" registration plate? Unfortunately no owner around, probably went to relax in green  gardens of Versailles.
Hmm. Just in case left my 73 under the wiper, so we'll see. Not sure it's real ham callsign, no more info found... but?

GL.

DF0TEC station Woltersdorf #JO73CE

If You're keen 2m contest op, You'll probably know the team members of DF0TEC in Woltersdorf, Olli DH8BQA, Uwe DL3BQA and Heiko DG1BHA.

First sight close to QTH already making some sweet ham impressions :-) Probably every one of DX'er dreaming about QTH something like this one :-)

If You are not 2m op, I am pretty sure You will remember their Baltic 2016 VHF DX ES & LY from various grids under calls ES0UG #KO07/KO08/KO18 and LY2AAM #KO23 square on 6 and 4m.

Delivery of new club antenna was a great occassion to visit the club and meet friends known from RF waves. Unfortunately Olli DH8BQA can't be present (we've missed You Olli ), but we had a great time with Uwe DL3BQA and Heiko DG1BHA assembling the antenna and discussing ham radio stories with home made Radler beer by Uwe :-)

Heiko DG1BHA & me in the DF0TEC club room. Heiko is a master of cables, towers climbing and all hard work :-)

Uwe DL3BQA, ES0UG/LY2AAM Baltic 2016 VHF dxp team leader, and all the essential club stuff manager.

Thanks for great time guys & hope to mee you again !

SM - Sweden again on 70MHz in 2017

On behalf of my good friend Henrik OZ8ZS I am pleased to pass following information to 4m community:

"This Year activity will take place during annual
Nordic VHF meeting with the call SK6YH from JO58TA grid.
Source: Google maps

Thanks to SM6EAN Mats we got the license in right time. Station will be QRV from June.09 (afternoon) till end of the meeting June.11.2017.

Because of licence limitations we will use TX frequency 70.1375MHz

(as in previous activities), so we will work split and try to be active
on FSK441, and if good tropo or Es also SSB and CW.
On digimodes - we will always call 1st and 30s.
At this moment I don't know the Internet access, but we will try to announce split QRG on ON4KST, so please look out there.
Our equipment: FT-847 or IC-7300 and 5 el antenna. Take off from JO58TA is not the best, but we hope to make many qso`s.
I will call it "payback time", as you know I am a #hunter on 4m and really appreciate all the previous expeditions giving many new squares for me, and all the other 4m #hunters.

Vy 73 de OZ8ZS Henrik & SM6EAN Mats."

GL !

EDIT : June 09.2017

Guys doing great job there, good sigs and hope they work as many as cndx permits

Warning! Ham radio addicted YL in shack ;-)

It's very good when You can have another ham radio operator in family, even better when your Lady run's ham radio at such level of involvement. One of the lucky guy is Maciej SQ6RMA :-)

Friday afternoon started with cup of coffee with YL Halina, better known as SQ6PLH, keen and addicted contest operator on HF and SIX meters, and of course YL of Maciej SQ6RMA.

If You did not heard SQ6PLH until now, You will for sure this season :-)

SP/OH5LID again in the shack ! ;-)

Well.
All what's good or even better, coming to an end very quickly.

Again, after two Years from first meeting, I've had unique opportunity to eyeball QSO and to drink a Tomza beer with my Finnish friend Janne, better known as LID.

OH5LID to be exact ;-)

This time Janne as "Iron man" or maybe Ironmagpie :-) stopped by in our house for trip break on the way back from after Ironman competition in Pula, Croatia, driven by his amazing Boss XYL Natalia.

We had FB evening here joining 40 Years Anniversary meeting of local club SP3PGZ from Kolo, where we meet lot of ham radio operators, good beer and Polish cuisine specialities.

L to R : Janne himself, my XYL Ola, Natalia and Andy SP3FCO.

Long talks after back home, and unique atmosphere with our special guests makes Suomi, Polish and Russian almost the same languages :-)

Pity Finland is not next door - but we will try to fix it :-) maybe next Year,

Have a safe trip home!

As always, stopped by for few minutes, left after "small" hour :-) But who still believe that ham's can meet for a quick "moment"

Sunday coffee with Zenek SQ3KNN

Very avid digi fan, Zenek SQ3KNN stopped by to take his FT450 and digi stuff back after maintenance.

Warning! - If You want to drink coffee with him, make a barrel in advance :-)))
We had a very long talk. As always when we meet for 5 minutes.

Look for him on PSK31, SSB and newly installed and trained JT65(HF) mode.

New Years coffee with Janusz SQ3BKQ

This is an old local friend ;-)
A man always busier than me, stepping by for just 5 minutes to leave his radio for maintenance, stayed for long ham radio related talk at the evening :-)

And certainly he is not that serious as on the pics ;-)
Thanks Janusz, always pleasure to meet You.

3W3RR/JAIL QSO with Roman Vega. An American Jail Journey.

Today I got special QSL, for the QSO that probably is impossible to made.
Of course no CW or verbal contact has been made, but just "human" touch with ham radio greetings.
The Jail QSO.

As You probably aware I am not VHF born, so those of You interested in HF DX-ing must know the story or just heard about the person this post is about.
This is the guy, known as Roman Vega ( last call 3W3RR or formerly UB5JRR ) I have in my log with plenty of variuos callsigns.

If You are serious HF'er, and/or DX'er You know that he served more new ones for DX community than probably nobody else these days, to mention rare Spratly 1S0XV activation, or North Korea DXP signed as P5RS7 few Years later.

Romeo is in U.S jail now for more than 12 Years. He was arrested in 5B4 back in 2003 and transferred to US then.
Most interesting thing is, that in US, after 12 Years he is still not sentenced by the American court.
No proofs for him? Apparently...

Judge yourself. I am amazed after reading whole story, how it's possible in US. Is this really Country of Freedom?
Worth read and think.

You can find full info on Romeo's jail journey blog made and updated by his friends HERE

SP3RNZ/2 #JO94GH short (ham) trip to Gdansk

Just to confirm that Baltic Sea is still on it's place , meet a friends and have a little rest from reality, planned short trip with my "girls" to Gdansk.

Despite bad weather, I had a great time visiting Wlodek SP2HHX at his radio shack, and great evening spend with Marcel SP2HMR and his wife Bogusia.

Suprisingly (for me) well known St.Dominic's fairs started Saturday July 25th in Gdansk, at Main City, for 755th time!
Amazing events, open air concerts, performers, theather, music and more almost unreal cultral feelings in one place. Plenty of different nations, different languages "walking" the streets and enjoying the events. Unfortunately no hams discovered in the crowd :-) maybe just bad luck ;-). Singing CQ would help?

Main point of the trip was to deliver new Turnstile antenna made at RNZ LAB for the 4m beacon SR2FHG in JO94II located at SP2KDS clubstation. Not to mention opening few beer bottles after, with Marcel SP2HMR :-) (Thanks!)
Hope this will improve signal performance at tropo and Es distances across EU.
Look for the SR2FHG/B signals at 70.105MHz, A1A mode.

Updated Monday July 27.2015 - they are fast! Antenna installed on top of mast.
Now 360 degrees takeoff.

Good memories: Wlodek SP2HHX and me at his shack ( he will be on 4m soon! )

Anyway, weekend came to an end, 3 FB days but QRL on monday again :-(,
But it's worth - great hams, FB hospitality and great place to visit in Poland.
