SP3RNZ/2 #JO94GH short (ham) trip to Gdansk

Just to confirm that Baltic Sea is still on it's place , meet a friends and have a little rest from reality, planned short trip with my "girls" to Gdansk.

Despite bad weather, I had a great time visiting Wlodek SP2HHX at his radio shack, and great evening spend with Marcel SP2HMR and his wife Bogusia.

Suprisingly (for me) well known St.Dominic's fairs started Saturday July 25th in Gdansk, at Main City, for 755th time!
Amazing events, open air concerts, performers, theather, music and more almost unreal cultral feelings in one place. Plenty of different nations, different languages "walking" the streets and enjoying the events. Unfortunately no hams discovered in the crowd :-) maybe just bad luck ;-). Singing CQ would help?

Main point of the trip was to deliver new Turnstile antenna made at RNZ LAB for the 4m beacon SR2FHG in JO94II located at SP2KDS clubstation. Not to mention opening few beer bottles after, with Marcel SP2HMR :-) (Thanks!)
Hope this will improve signal performance at tropo and Es distances across EU.
Look for the SR2FHG/B signals at 70.105MHz, A1A mode.

Updated Monday July 27.2015 - they are fast! Antenna installed on top of mast.
Now 360 degrees takeoff.

Good memories: Wlodek SP2HHX and me at his shack ( he will be on 4m soon! )

Anyway, weekend came to an end, 3 FB days but QRL on monday again :-(,
But it's worth - great hams, FB hospitality and great place to visit in Poland.

2nd Balkan tour by Mek SP7VC & Kasia SQ7OYL

In around the peak of Perseids as all 4m op's probably aware we will have chance to hunt for some new squares across the Balkans.
Nothing new to say, that the event will be possible thanks to Mek SP7VC & Kasia SQ7OYL summer trip, travelling across the Balkans for the second time.
Activity is scheduled mainly in YO ( legal licence - big thanks to Dani YO5LD for help) LZ and SV at the end of trip.

Here's a map with possible # to activate. Exact locations may vary depending upon good/better location there. Be aware that Mek is unpredictable as classic YL, so we can have another "pit stop" squares active along the trip, i.e on "Bus stop" or some nice view near lake or mountains :-)

Planned dates of activity:

YO/SP7VC
01.08- KN37DP, 02.08- KN27XP,KN38DA, 03.03-KN15XD or KN25AD, 04.08- KN14XX or KN24AX
05.08-KN13UN, 06.08-KN22SK

LZ/SP7VC:
07.08-10.08-KN32WT, 09.08- KN43AI

SV/SP7VC
10.08-12.08- KN21KE,KN31DA,KN30CW?, 13.08- KN10LP

SOME IMPORTANT TIPS :
Remember SP7VC always transmit in FIRST period no matter what mode, so no need to ask for a zillion times which period he is, etc. If You copy his CQ - call with report.

Due to "on field" operation, and GSM/WLAN coverage it might happen, that there will be seconds of time inaccuracies in WSJT.

I am not Mek's trip pilot. At least I am not told to be.
Any help from me is limited just to help him work YOU at certain times, directions etc.. No calls QSP, no "hear him", or any other info wil be passed. You must do the QSO yourself.
And please do not try to stretch my patience. It's has own limits.
If needed, I will post ANY info sent by Mek to 4/6m KST chat as soon as I can.
Worked stations will be published here as well.
Any mistakes, busted calls, unsure QSO - write @ directly to MEK, not to me. I can't solve it.

And LAST
PLEASE DO NOT post ANY details of pending QSO on KST chat page.
No matter it's Your or not.
(Except his CQ to let others know there are stones around.)

Pasting info like "0918 4.3 200 0 26 -99 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx AB1CD" by some op's can't help, but doing nothing than harming QSO confidency.
By the way - It's kind of cheating, me thinks. Don't You?
A station in QSO easily can imagine what is behind the X's, dot's or asterisks.
Do we really wan't to read low EGO hams destroying one's QSO just to show "LOOK AT ME, I HEAR HIM"?

IT'S IDIOTIC and USELESS.

Thank's for understanding.

SP7VC/4 4 & 6m from #KO13BX Orzechowo, North East Poland

Mek on the road, or better to say on the air again. Funny, still many need to work him from his home QTH in #JO91SS, but easier to get him "somewhere" in the World.
Anyway another activation of KO13 taking place just now, and he will be QRV Sunday as well.
Look for him also in CQWW VHF Contest on 6m.

Here's Mek himself with his old good 5+5 el YU7EF Yagi, and his old handy GPS.

# KO13BX 142 m a.s.l

and this is small radio shack (quite neat and clean, isn't it? :-))

70MHz USS Unidentified Signal Source

One of the mystery signals coming thru on 70MHz.
As we have different and sometime secondary basis allocations in EU it's probably some digi link communication somewhere in West/South West EU.
Recording date 08.july.2015, 18.58UTC, QRG 70.163.00 USB mode, direction of USS not determined, antenna heading S-W, beaming CS5BFM beacon.

Sound file : USS

At this time massive Es clusters above Germany and HB9 with MUF up to 171MHz and 9H station were heard on the side of the beam. Appeared suddenly at the time of recording and gone. Sounding similar as FSK.
Any idea ?

Alaska into EU - another extraordinary event

Last night, around midnight local time (22UTC) another KL7-EU opening occured, on almost dead band whole day with no any major Es opening.

Yesturday's opening took place exactly 1 year after 4-5 openings last Year, started with first Alaska into EU signals at July 1st.2014 ended around July 5th 2014.

This time Pertti OG2M worked two active Alaska stations, KL7HBK in BO49ET at 6587km, and KL7KY in BP51EN at 6388km.
Well deserved. Congrats again Pertti !

Amazing thing is, John KL7HBK was using 3el homebrew Yagi only, and 1,5kW - Pertti run 4x7el LFA2, there was no signal observed on his single 9el M2 antenna. 2 stacked Yagis were used by Kevin KL7KY.

Here's a Google map showing the path across the North Pole. Pertti said his antenna was heading 0 deg at the time of QSO. Signals reported were weak.

Quick look at K index, show's that it was low/very low at around 22UTC with A index about 3.

Well. This is SIX. Expect unexpected.
